One-man comedy-drama about two twins growing up with cerebral palsy: Bec (a wheelchair user) and Jack (who walks with a limp). Each twin had a very different experience navigating life.

Join Jack as he steps back in time, reliving squabbles with his old womb-mate Bec. All whilst battling against societal attitudes and his own emotional darkside: in the form of a well-known disabled Sith Lord. In this true tale of twins growing up, their unique bond is tested as they steer through the trials and tribulations of childhood and school – honking at bullies and overthrowing the low expectations foisted upon them. An inspiring* solo show with sketch and spoken word, that celebrates disability and diversity.

*Inspiration not guaranteed.

One of Two is an autobiographical one-man comedy drama that focuses on the significance of human connection, and the integral effect it can have on our lives. The play is centred around the unique relationship I have with my twin sister Bec. We both have differing manifestations of Cerebral Palsy. Bec and I’s experience within secondary and further education was vastly different. This primarily came down to contrasting attitudes of how educational professionals and fellow students perceived us. Consequently, we both faced vast societal barriers. However, Bec’s struggle was much greater than mine. The fate of Bec and I as dual protagonists are inexplicably linked, which makes for an exciting and thought-provoking show.

Articulated with a charm, humour and light-touch use of film and visual images that mark Hunter’s arrival as a major presence in Scottish theatre.

It isn’t brave or bold in the grand scheme. One of Two is remarkably ordinary. And that’s the beauty of Hunter’s performance and construction: taking two lives and transitioning the trials, struggles, successes, and celebrations into an audience. Inspiration may not be guaranteed, but an earnest use of comedy and storytelling is.
